How do I add a custom ERC20 token to Metal Vault?

Important: you can only add ERC20 compliant tokens! Most of the compatible ERC-20 tokens are listed on Eido.

Step 1: Select an Ethereum wallet to add a custom ERC20 token

The Ethereum blockchain is used as a platform to launch ERC20 tokens, so you will need to link them to an Ethereum wallet. You can choose the preconfigured Ethereum wallet or create a new one. We'll use the preconfigured Ethereum wallet in this guide.

Click on the Ethereum wallet and you'll be taken to the "Receive Page" of the Ethereum wallet.

Step 2: Go to the tokens page

Click on "Tokens" on the top menu. You will be taken to the tokens page.

Step 3: Go To the add custom token page

Click on the add tokens button (the “+” icon beside “Tokens”). You’ll be taken to the “Add Custom Token” popup page within Metal Vault.

Step 4: Add the custom token

You need to enter all the required data from the ERC token on this page. Keep this browser tab open for now, we’ll come back to it in a minute.

Step 5: Find the required token info on Etherscan

First, head over to the etherscan website. Next, select the ERC20 token you want to add to your wallet. We'll use Kyber Network in this example. You’ll find all the required info you need on this page to add to the "Add Custom Token Page".

Name: KyberNetwork -> this is the name of the token

Code: KNC -> this is the ticker of the token

Decimals: 18 Contract Address: 0xdd974d5c2e2928dea5f71b9825b8b646686bd200

Fee: 75000 is the most common fee that will work in most cases.

Some tokens require a higher fee for transactions to work properly. Increase the fee with 75000 increments if you experience transaction issues.

Step 6: Add all the info to the add custom token page

Next, add all the required data to the “Add Custom Token” popup page in Metal Vault and click on the “OK” button to add the token.

You successfully added a custom ERC20 token to Metal Vault

Congratulations! You have successfully added a custom ERC20 token to your Ethereum wallet. You can now send and receive your custom ERC20 tokens to the accompanying Ethereum wallet address.

The token amount will be displayed when you visit the token page of the Ethereum wallet.

However, the ETH or USD equivalent of the value of the added token(s) will not be reflected on the Ethereum wallet since these are manually added tokens and are thus not configured to track their value.
